Why do lithium batteries (rechargeable) need protection?
It is their own characteristics. As the material of the lithium battery itself determines that it cannot be overcharged, overdischarged, overcurrent, short-circuited, charged and discharged at ultra-high temperatures.
Therefore, the lithium battery packs will always be followed by a delicate protection board and a current fuse.
The protection function of Li-ion battery is usually accomplished by the protection circuit board and the current device such as PTC. The protection board is composed of an electronic circuit, which accurately monitors the voltage of the battery cell and the current of the charging and discharging circuit at all times under the environment of -40℃ to +85℃, and controls the on/off of the current circuit in time; the PTC prevents the battery from bad damage under the high temperature environment.
